Two contractors fined for collecting excess fee

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore Corporation has fined two contractors on charges of collecting excess fee at public convenience facilities.
A release from the civic body said the collection of excess fee came to light when a Corporation team, following complaints, conducted surprise inspections at the use-and-pay toilets at Singanallur bus stand and Pappanaickenpalayam.
A. Loganathan, Assisant Commissioner, East Zone, headed the inspection team.
He passed on the information to Anshul Mishram, Commissioner, who slapped Rs. 20,000 as fine.
Warning
He also warned the contractors that their contracts would be cancelled if they failed to comply with the rules that had been laid down.
