Sixth Pay Commission: PMC civic standing committee gives nod
After the standing committee approval , a special general body meeting has also been called on September 4
A day after the special committee gave approval to implement the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations for the officials and employees of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), civic standing committee also gave its go-ahead for its implementation on Saturday.
However, the political parties remained divided on this, with Congress, NCP and MNS voting in favour of this proposal and the BJP-Shiv Sena combine opposing it. BJP-Shiv Sena alleged that the other parties are trying to please people just ahead of the assembly polls. The proposal was passed with Congress-NCP-MNS' nine votes as against the saffron alliance of 4 votes.
Congress-NCP wanted to take a fast decision since the election code of conduct for the upcoming assembly polls are going to fall in place from next week. Therefore, a special general body meeting has also been organised on September 4 to give a speedy clearance to the proposal.
