The Coimbatore Corporation has extended till April 5 the time for payment of property tax, water charges and professional tax for the second half of the last financial year. A release says that following demands that the long weekend on the eve of the end of the financial year had not helped in the payment of tax, the civic body had decided to let the assessees to pay tax or charges till April 5.

Meanwhile, Commissioner G. Latha said that on Sunday, the last day of the last financial year, the Corporation had managed to collect a little over Rs. 1 crore taking the total collection percentage to 88, which was a percentile point more than last year’s.
