Municipal officials along with a revenue team removed 28 unauthorised shops in Anna bus stand at Meenakshipuram here on Friday.

As the shops were causing hardship to passengers, the matter was brought to the notice of Collector S. Nagarajan who ordered their removal. The Consumer Protection Association and Conservation of Nature Trust here had already filed cases in the Madras High Court Bench in Madurai in this connection.

The judgment would be expected to be delivered soon, said the president of Consumer Forum S.R. Sree Ram.
