Compound wall for retrieved land

A compound wall is being constructed around the 1.25-acre Corporation land at Mathichiyam from where encroachers were evicted with the help of police last month. Mayor V.V.Rajan Chellappa inspected the construction work on Wednesday along with Corporation Commissioner R.Nanthagopal and other officials. The land in Chappanikoil Street (Ward 3) was encroached upon by some individuals and houses had come up there. On July 18, the authorities had carried out the eviction drive and the houses were demolished.
