Encroachments evicted
Encroachments on roads in Zone 4 of the city were removed on Thursday as part of dengue prevention measures by the Madurai Corporation.
Roadside eateries that were affecting the hygiene of the surroundings and attracting mosquitoes were removed from West Perumal Maistry Street, West Masi Street, West Marret Street, Town Hall Road and North Avani Moola Street, a release said.
The officials also demolished a few structures built on encroached Corporation land near Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. A Corporation spokesman said the land would be fenced soon.
