Vadodara Municipal Corporation to conduct draw for allocating houses for the urban poor

VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will on Thursday conduct a draw to allot houses to beneficiaries of the houses constructed for the urban poor under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).

The VMC will hold an event to conduct the draw for deciding the beneficiaries of 106 houses that have come up in the Tarsali area of the city. The houses have come up under the second phase of the housing scheme under JnNURM.

A VMC release stated that the allotment of 587 houses constructed under the second phase had remained pending and the beneficiaries identified on Thursday after the draw would be accommodated in these houses. Most of the beneficiaries being considered for the draw on Thursday are residents of Ambikanagar in Tarsali.

The VMC has planned to construct 21,696 houses for urban poor under JnNURM's Basic Services for the Urban Poor programme. Of these, 10,469 houses have been allotted to beneficiaries so far. The draw on Thursday will be conducted by mayor Bharat Shah in presence of other senior VMC functionaries.
