Rs 5.8-Crore Development Package Gets Approval

A Rs 5.8-crore developmental package focusing mainly on infrastructure development was approved at a developmental seminar organised by the Muvattupuzha Municipality for the next fiscal.

It was suggested to allocate `1 crore for the proposed Urban Haat project at the seminar. An amount of `1.4 crore was also proposed for the maintenance work of various municipal roads. A `40-lakh proposal for municipal stadium and another `40 lakh was also allotted for the renovation of the Municipal Town Hall. A shopping complex at a cost of `45 lakh at KSRTC junction and a community hall of `13 lakh at Kuryamala were also approved at the seminar.

 Renovation of Kavumkara vegetable market and Anganvadis, setting up of ‘Pakalveed’ for the elderly are the other proposals made. Suggestions on reviewing the Muvattupuzha master plan mooted by the municipality were put forth. The developmental package contains a slew of projects for the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people and in the education sector. Financial aid for youth for securing job abroad and prize award for students are the other suggestions.  The seminar was inaugurated by U R Babu, Municipal chairman, at a function held at the Municipal Town Hall on Wednesday. Municipal vice-chairperson Anis Baburaj presided over the function. Standing Committee chairmen K M Kabheer, P N Santhosh, K G Anil Kumar, Nisa Ashraf also spoke.
