Deputy Mayor of Tuticorin Corporation P. Xavier gave away appointment orders to four junior assistant cum typists, four unskilled workers, one female assistant and another assistant (clerical cadre) and six sanitary workers in the corporation here on Monday. Besides, orders were given to those who got promoted to assistant cum typist, skilled assistants – grade I and part-time health visitors. Commissioner of Corporation S. Madhumathi and officials from various departments were present.

Mr. Xavier said efforts were being taken to ensure adequate water supply to residents at regular intervals. Tanker lorries would be deployed to supply water to the affected wards – second, third, 17th and 18th wards. He said tender would be floated soon to engage additional tanker lorries to supply water to tail-end areas and affected wards. He alleged that the TWAD Board officials had not been cooperating to supply water to these wards. The issue was taken to the notice of Revenue Minister B.V. Ramana, who reviewed the progress of various schemes in Tuticorin on Saturday and to Collector M.Ravikumar.
