Encroachment eviction drive

The encroachment eviction drive launched by the Attur Municipality on Friday ran into rough weather when a group of traders opposed the move. Some people had put up temporary shops near the Pazhaya Santhaipettai commercial complex behind the bus stand in Attur town. The Attur municipality a few days ago directed the traders to remove all encroachments. When the municipal officials attempted to remove the encroachments on Friday, the traders opposed the move, leading to tension. The police reached the spot and held discussion with the traders. The municipality has given a few more days time to the traders to vacate the site, following which they dispersed.
