Rs. 58.95-lakh surplus budget for Hassan CMC

HASSAN: Ratnamma Mahantesh, president of Hassan City Municipal Council (CMC), presented a Rs. 58.95-lakh surplus budget for the CMC for 2009-10 here on Wednesday.

The CMC expects revenue of Rs. 34.57 crore through tax collection from different source.

The CMC plans to spend Rs. 36.38 crore on development works.

Ms. Mahantesh said that preference would be given to develop infrastructure in the 35 wards in the city.

A sum of Rs. 7 crore had been set aside for asphalting roads and constructing pavements. She said that Rs. 1.25 crore had been earmarked for developing new layouts.

A sum of Rs. 1 crore each would be spent on developing parks and a vegetable market, and Rs. 2.4 crore had been set aside for works related to drinking water supply.

The CMC has set aside Rs. 75 lakh for development of slums, Rs. 85 lakh for underground drainage scheme, Rs. 20 crore for purchase of vehicles and Rs. 30 lakh for streetlight maintenance.
