Students develop vehicle that runs on air

As a step towards a future where one doesn’t have to depend on fuel for cars, three mechanical engineering students of SKR Engineering College, Poonamallee, have developed a pollution-free vehicle that runs on compressed air.

The students, D Karthikeyan, R Sakthi and B Babu, have completed the project, ‘Design and Development of Compressed Air Driven Vehicle’, under the guidance of V Chandran.

The maintenance of the compressed air vehicle is much cheaper than conventional petrol or diesel vehicles since the number of components in the compressed air driven vehicle are less. The only present problem for the compressed air vehicles is there is no availability of filling stations for compressed air.
