Civic health department plans to recruit 2,120 personnel

NASHIK: The civic health department has sought recruitment of 2,120 personnel to cater to the city's health needs efficiently.

Currently, the Nashik Municipal Corporation's health department has the sanctioned number of posts but considering the present population of the city, based on the 2011 census, it needs additional 2,120 staff. The department had written to the civic administration last year about the requirement and the latter has forwarded the proposal to the state government.

"We are waiting for the state government's approval. As per the 2011 census, the city has a population of around 15 lakh and we need more people in the health department to cater to the city's requirements," said an NMC official.

The department has an approval for 1,953 posts of sanitary employees and all the posts are filled. But the city now needs 3,717 employees, which means an additional 1,764 sanitary employees. "As per rules, there should be one 'mukadam' for 10 sanitary employees. That takes the total requirement of mukadams to 370. We have 61 approved posts. So, we need additional 309 mukadams. Likewise, one sanitary inspector is needed for 50 mukadams. We have 36 approved posts but need an additional 38 sanitary inspectors. Besides, one divisional sanitary inspector is needed for five sanitary inspectors. We have approval for six posts and they are filled. But we need nine more," the official said.

He said that creation of these new posts will solve a lot of issues related to health and sanitary issues in the city.
