Move to promote reuse of plastic bags
Bangalore,Nov 6, dhns:

An alarming number of 10 million plastic bags get dumped globally every minute into the environment which are not recyclable.

In an effort to curb the nuisance of plastic bags in the City, VOICE for India Foundation (Voluntary Organisation of Integrated Community Enterprises for India) along with Ramaiah Institute of Management Science (RIMS) is organising an event to unveil the idea of specially made plastic bags to retail store owners in the City.

Suresh Tota, Managing Trustee of VOICE said that the concept of reusing shopping bags will be integrated at shops with a refundable deposit. “The plastic bags you receive at any retail outlet can be returned to the shops and in return receive a small deposit amount too. The idea is to reduce the consumption of plastic bags which have already grappled the world with its presence,” he said.

The unveiling of the idea will be held on November 7 at 11 am at RIMS auditorium, New BEL Road, MSRIT Post which also will be attended by BBMP officials, NGOs and Resident Welfare Association representatives.
