Civic school SSC toppers felicitated

Two girls from poorer economic backgrounds made their parents proud by scoring 9.8 in the SSC examinations.

R.M. Swati of NGGOs’ Colony School and Priyanka topped the result in the civic schools. Swati’s father Appa Rao is an old newspaper seller. Priyanka’s father applies grease to autorickshaws. Both of them are from KNM High School. Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana felicitated the headmasters of schools that did well and the students who topped. Swati said she would become a Hindi teacher as she had already passed some qualifying examinations in that language and could get a teacher’s job.

However, after being told that she would have better prospects because of her scoring good marks, she agreed to take up MPC group.

Mr. Satyanarayana announced a cash prize of Rs.5,000 each to the students.

He said the schools that stood in the first three places would be immediately provided all basic amenities, sports goods and any staff required. All those who passed the examination would be encourage to join Intermediate or ITI. Various institutions would be contacted to extend them support. To improve the result all senior officials would adopt a school each. Headmasters of the 17 schools spoke on getting a good result and the reasons for failure. Mr. Satyanarayana felicitated GVMC Railway New Colony School headmistress Vijaya Kumari and D.A. Naidu and Srinivasa Rao, headmasters of schools that stood second and third.

Besides Swati and Priyanka, G. Divya, G. Tarun and Suresh were congratulated.

ADC (Finance) P. Purnachandra Rao, deputy EO Lakshminarasa and School Superintendent P. Vimala Kumari participated.
