Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Corporation has fined an applicant for allegedly forging documents.

The Health Officer and Registrar of Births and Deaths charged Rs.500 from an applicant for attempting to get a fresh birth certificate after producing false documents showing that his birth had not been registered.

The applicant had approached the Corporation office for getting a non-availability certificate so as to get the birth registered at the Revenue Divisional Office. He had requested the birth certificate with the date May 25, 1985.

The applicant had also submitted an affidavit from the notary for the purpose.

Two government employees had also signed on the affidavit.

Corporation officials reportedly detected that the birth of the applicant had been registered at the Corporation earlier.

The birth took place at the Government General Hospital here on July 5, 1984, Corporation office sources said.

The two government employees had also been served show cause notices.
