Vishwa Hindu Parishat General Secretary Chi Na Somesh in a news conference informed that though Amendment to Prohibition on cow slaughter Act 1962 and 1964 has been in force in the State, it has not been implemented effectively. Due to this, cattle are being slaughtered in large numbers. Further, large number of cattle are robbed and sent to slaughter houses in Kerala.

“Slaughtering of cattle was banned in Kodagu during British era itself but after the Act came into force, it was never implemented. Some police have joined hands with the people trafficking cattle and it is due to this reason that controlling trafficking of cattle is difficult,” he said.

As a first phase of struggle demanding formation of law against religious conversion, memorandum has been given to the CM through the district administration. On August 16, as a part of second phase of the struggle ‘satyagraha’ will be staged outside DC offices all over the state demanding the same.

One day hunger strike will be staged at all taluk centres all over the State as a part of third phase of struggle and finally on December 21, ‘Bangalore Chalo’ will be held. Vehicle rally will be held on December 19 and 20 from four centres in the State to Bangalore and a memorandum with over 5 lakh signatures will be handed over to the CM.
