One of the city roads will be re-laid by mixing plastic granules with bitumen on Friday.

V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, Minister for Public Works, will inaugurate the road work at Nilampathinjamukal near Kakkanad at 10.30 a.m. The department plans to use plastic granules for road works across the State.

Granules generated from plastic waste by the Clean City movement of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India will be used for the project in Kochi.

The Kochi Corporation had joined hands with the Kochi unit of the agency for the management of plastic and biodegradable waste generated from the apartment complexes in the city.
