Town Hall to Get Facelift at a Cost of Rs 5.6 Crore: BBMP

The Puttanna Chetty Town Hall will get a facelift as BBMP is planning to take up renovation at a cost of Rs 5.60 crore. The work will start in March, said A H Basavaraju, chairman, Ward-level Works Committee.

 Addressing a news conference at the Palike office, he said they will repair and replace seats, studio system, stage and green room and also improve various other facilities at the building.

A committee headed by theatre artiste Prakash Belvadi has been constituted to suggest changes and improvements, he said.

 Basavaraju said tenders have been called to build a hospital at a cost of `1.25 crore in Ward No.103 for the benefit of the poor people in the surrounding villages.

 The BBMP Commissioner has directed executive engineers to hold public meetings to redress grievances at ward-level once in two months and submit reports regarding the same.

BESCOM, BWSSB and other department officials will be present at the meeting, he added.

‘BBMP IS in Financial Crisis’

The BBMP is in doldrums with a loan of Rs 9,000 crore and has failed to cash in on the available resources, said R Prakash JD(S) opposition leader in the BBMP.
