Sapna Mehra, who lives in Gulab building on Carter Road, said when residents started receiving dirty water they checked the housing society tank but found no problem. "We have senior citizens and children living in our society and the supply of such water is worrying," she said.

Sophia Rodrigues from Pali Mala said her society received BMC water daily from 10 am to 1 pm but it was smelly. "The water stinks and the it's high time the BMC takes strict cognisance of the same," she said.

Local corporator Asif Zakeria, who raised the issue at the ward committee meeting on Tuesday, said the problem had become chronic. "It is a shame that such contamination issues are occurring in a ward where the BMC was supposed to provide twenty-four-by-seven water supply under the Water Distribution Improvement Programme," Zakeria said.
