CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on Thursday sealed a commercial building in Mogappair for violations.
According to a release from the CMDA, the owner of the building, which is located at plot no.1/10, J.J. Nagar (opposite Madras Medical Mission), had obtained planning permission in April 2008 from the Ambattur Municipality to construct a “ground floor plus first floor residential building with two dwelling units” but had built a commercial structure “comprising basement, ground floor, two floors and columns raised for the third floor.”
The building was locked and sealed under Section 56 and 57 of Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.
The release said the violations pertain to excess floor, set back space, building use and floor area as per Development Regulation.
Drive to continue
CMDA officials said the action against unauthorised constructions in the Chennai Metropolitan Area would continue.
