JNNURM works reviewed

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has directed the Municipal Administration and Urban Development officials to complete ongoing drinking water and underground drainage schemes taken up under the JNNURM in various municipalities and corporations by December this year.

Mr. Rosaiah, who reviewed the progress of work taken up under the JNNURM on Thursday, directed the Finance Department to release the State's share of funds to the urban local bodies for completion of the schemes by December.

Meanwhile, another 17 JNNURM projects, including Vikarabad satellite township estimated to cost Rs.696 crore, that were approved by the State level selection committee were not given clearance by the Centre as the State had already got its quota of projects for 2010-11.
