Over 10,000 houses inaugurated

More than 10,000 houses built by the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board were commissioned through videoconferencing by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday. Each unit is around 270 to 357 sq ft. and the cost ranges from Rs. 2.64 lakh to Rs. 7.23 lakh.

The Board has built over 8,000 houses in Ezhil Nagar, Okkiyam Thoraipakkam and Nochi Nagar in Chennai. In Coimbatore, 792 units have been built and a total of 180 houses constructed in Pudukkottai. Residential accommodations in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Namakkal, Hosur and Salem were also commissioned. The buildings were constructed at a cost of Rs. 441.50 crore.
