CMDA pact for waste management

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) recently signed a contract with Ramky Enviro Engineers for integrated waste management of the 60-acre Koyambedu Market complex.

According to a release, the contract for 12 years would focus on integrated management of waste of 3,500 shops selling fruits, flowers and vegetables. About 30 tonnes would be used for power generation and to manufacture organic manure. Ramky Enviro Engineers would also be responsible for disposal of the non-biodegradable waste at the Kodungaiyur dumpyard.

The contract was signed in the presence of CMDA vice-chairperson Susan Mathew by member secretary Vikram Kapur.
