Corporation opens ‘Hope Centres’

To improve civic services, extend support to community groups

The Tiruchirapalli City Corporation has set up 13 City Hope Centres which would function as extension centres of the civic body to improve civic services and extend support to community groups.

City residents can get in touch with the Hope Centres to lodge complaints regarding civic grievances either in person or over the dedicated mobile numbers, Corporation Commissioner V.P. Thandapani has said.

The corporation has set up one hope centre for every four or seven wards in the city with the involvement of the community groups. One of the objectives of the centres would be to extend civic services in a decentralised manner. Public grievances will be registered and follow up action initiated through the centres.

Corporation employees such as bill collectors, sanitary inspectors, assistant revenue officers, and engineers would be assigned to each centre to initiate follow-up action on grievances. Community group members, through the Hope Centres, would be involved in various civic services such as serving tax demand notices, maintenance of public parks and toilets, collection, and segregation of waste and other public awareness initiatives of the civic body.

The Hope Centres will offer training and support for self-employment to the community group members. The Hope Centres will function at the following place: Amma Mandapam Overhead Tank Complex for wards 1 to 6 (mobile number: 7402711160); Chattalbai Hospital, near Ibrahim Park for wards 8-12 (7402711161); Bheerangikulatheru for wards 13 and 16-18 (7402711162); Viragupettai for wards 14,15, 19 and 20-22 (7402711163); North Ukkadai Ariyamangalam for wards 7, 28, 29 and 61 (7402711164); Subbaiah Street for wards 23-27 and 33 (7402711165); Mela Kalkandarkottai for wards 30, 31 and 36 (7402711166); Khajamalai Colony for wards 34, 35, 37-39, 42 and 43 (7402711167); Corporation Main Office for wards 44, 46-48 (7402711168); Tiruverumbur Office for wards 62-65 (7402711169); Woraiyur Reading Room for wards 56-60 (7402711170); Kuratheru for wards 49-55 (7402711171) and RMS Colony, Karumandapam for wards 40, 41 and 45 (7402711172).
