RESTORED: Construction material kept in the playground at the Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School at R.S.Puram in the city being removed during a drive against encroachments on Wednesday.

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Corporation stopped what it claimed to be a move to encroach a portion of its school compound at R.S. Puram.

Officials said that in a bid to widen the access to his house, a resident tried to encroach some space from the compound of the Corporation Boy’s School. Even construction material was purchased to build a wall.

On being informed of this, Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra ordered the town planning officials to halt the construction move. Workers of the civic body removed the construction material also. Officials said a complaint of trespass was lodged with the police.

The Commissioner warned that the civic body would initiate stringent action against those found encroaching the Corporation’s property. The Corporation itself was into the process of identifying and maintaining a clear record of its property across the city.

Even if a brick was moved, the civic body would come to know of it once the geographic information system was established, an official said.
