10 illegal structures razed by UT in demolition drive at Kishangarh
High drama was witnessed on Thursday during a demolition drive by the
UT Estate Office and the Land Acquisition Office at Kishangarh.
Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon, who went to the demolition drive
along with several party workers, alleged that this was happening on
the behest of the ruling Congress.
During the drive which started in the morning, the team
demolished about 10 illegal warehouses which were constructed on the
government land.
Meanwhile, an official of the Estate office said that the
demolition drive was carried out peacefully in Kishangarh and a total of
10 illegal warehouses were demolished. The government land was acquired
for the development of IT Park Phase III. The warehouses had been
constructed by encroaching upon the government land.
“No prior written notice was handed over to us in the shop. All
of a sudden we saw bulldozers coming and no time was given to us to
vacate the place,” said Rajesh Kumar, who, with some others, used to
make brooms at a property which was demolished.
“No prior warning or information was given to us as two
bulldozers razed the property at which we were working. We were not even
allowed to vacate the place,” said Kailash, who is an employee in one
of the buildings which was demolished.
