100% hike in water tariff for firms

Hyderabad: The
state government has approved a 100 per cent hike in water tariff for
the industries and the commercial category consumers. The tariff
revision will earn the Water Board an additional Rs 300 crore per annum.
Domestic consumers have been spared. The tariff was last revised in
December 2011 for all consumer categories.

The
Board meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on
Wednesday approved the tariff hike proposals submitted by the Water
Board that stated that the frequent hike in electricity tariff has
increased the power bill of the Water Board from Rs 35 crore to Rs 55
crore in just over a year.
