1,080 JNNURM buses for 7 States
The Union Urban Development Ministry has sanctioned
1,080 buses to seven States under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban
Renewal Mission programme.
Projects related to
ancillary infrastructure including depots, workshops and intelligent
transport system have also been sanctioned.
The State
governments will have to procure these buses as per urban bus
specifications-II prepared by the Ministry. The first instalment of the
Centre’s share will be released after submission of information within
three months as per the conditions given in funding guidelines, the
Ministry said in a statement here. While Bihar has been sanctioned 207
buses, Andhra Pradesh will get 70, Maharashtra 406, Odisha 194, Punjab
50, Sikkim 53 and Tripura 100.
