115 banned water pouches seized in Brahmapur
During a raid conducted by the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation
(BMC) team led by Health Officer Dr Subhakanta Dash on last Sunday, 115
illegal water pouches of two brands were seized from various betel shops
in the Old Bus Stand area.
A fine of Rs 1,000 was collected from the water pouch manufacturers.
Sources said the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) had already
banned the manufacture and sale of water pouch under its jurisdiction
and in the last council meeting, the members of the civic body had
expressed their concern for non-implementation of the ban order in the
city.
Health officer Das and Dharmananda Nayak participated in the raid. More
raids will be conducted to nab the law breakers, said Subhakanta Das.
