125 crore spent on civic amenities in slum colonies
The Rajasthan Government has received Rs.200 crore for providing civic
amenities in the slum colonies in 55 urban areas of the State under the
Integrated Housing for Slum Development Programme and spent Rs.125 crore
of the amount on various construction and development works.
State Principal Urban Development Secretary G. S. Sandhu
issued instructions at a meeting here on Tuesday for speeding up the
work after being told that about 4,000 dwelling units had been
constructed so far. The programme forms part of the Jawaharlal Nehru
National Urban Renewal Mission.
According to an official release, the State is getting
80 per cent of finance under the programme from the Union Government and
10 per cent from the respective urban local bodies. The remaining 10
per cent is contributed by the beneficiaries.
The meeting was told that the work was underway for
regularisation of slum colonies, distribution of title deeds,
construction of roads and sewerages and arrangements for drinking water
supply. The progress of work in Hanumangarh, Pilibanga, Bali, Balotra,
Bhawanimandi, Bhilwara, Gangapur, Phalna, Rani, Sojat, Sadri, Sawai
Madhopur, Nimbahera, Banswara and Chittaurgarh was reviewed at the
meeting.
