2 BBMP engineers in the dock
BANGALORE: The high court has imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 each on two BBMP engineers for failing to comply with a court order asking them to open the locks of two flats in Vasanthnagar area.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar on Monday further directed the civic agency not to shift Kempegowda, executive engineer, and Nagaraj, assistant executive engineer in Vasanthnagar sub-division, to posts where they have to be in contact with the public.
Msrs Pidilite Industries Ltd had filed a contempt petition against the duo for failing to comply with the February 23 and March 1, 2010 orders passed by the court asking the BBMP to open locks of the two flats. The complainant has claimed that the two officers hadn’t considered the application filed by them seeking change of land use and also issued notice to proceed against them for using the flats for office purposes.
Even though the February 2, 2010 notice seeking to proceed under KMC act was stayed by the high court, the BBMP authorities, instead of complying, were seeking legal opinion, the court was informed. The company had purchased these two flats on Edward Road in 2002-04 for office-cum-residential purposes.
