203 unauthorised constructions identified
As many as 203 unauthorised constructions, work on which
began taking advantage of the Samaikyandhra strike by the Town Planning
staff of GVMC, have come to light.
Reports from six
zones submitted to the Commissioner on Thursday contained the details.
Of them, 67 are in below 50 sq m site, 72 in below 100 sq m and one in
below 300 sq m.
23 demolished
Acting
on the reports and information obtained, 23 of the unauthorised
constructions were pulled down. While Zone I and Zone VI in Pendurti and
Madhurawada areas accounted for eight each, three in Zone II and two
each in Zone IV and V were demolished.
For 119 plans were rejected and for 65 approvals would be given after the strike was called off.
Municipal
Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana who held a meeting with zone
commissioners, Chief City Planner and assistant city planners for the
second successive day on Thursday told them they had failed to take any
steps to prevent unauthorised construction. He pointed out that powers
were delegated to zone commissioners to take action against unauthorised
constructions.
He instructed field-level staff to
record any unauthorised construction and take it to the notice of higher
officials failing which action would be taken against them.
