67.24% voting in seven local civic bodies of Nainital
Voting percentage of different local civic bodies in the
Nainital district which was reported to be slow during morning hours on
Sunday, gained momentum as the day passed, registering about 67.24 per
cent in all seven local civic bodies of the district.
The nagar panchayat Kaladhungi recorded a maximum 86.65 per cent
polling while about 85.05 per cent voting was registered at the Lalkuwan
nagar panchayat, said the officials concerned of the election control
room at Haldwani.
Similarly, the Bhawali municipal council recorded 75.46 per cent
polling followed by Bhimtal nagar panchayat with 70.55 per cent polling,
the Ramnagar municipal council with 69.46 per cent polling, the
Haldwani municipal corporation with 66.11 per cent voting and the
Nainital municipal council with about 59.98 per cent polling, added the
officials concerned.
However, by and large the polling in all seven civic bodies in the Nainital district was reported to be peaceful.
The interesting fact is that whereas only 14.42 per cent voting was
reported in the seven civic bodies till 10 am on Sunday, the overall
polling percentage of these civic bodies reached about 34.05 per cent
till noon.
Finally, the overall polling percentage was recorded about 67.24 per cent, as the officials concerned informed.
Amid high security presence, though no untoward incident occurred,
polling personnel complained of poor refreshment arrangements at the
Haldwani control room. Even there was no proper arrangements for
drinking water, the officials on duty complained.
Although increasing atmospheric temperature caused a lot of
inconvenience, yet the voters defying the rather sunny day reached their
polling booths to exercise their franchise.
