7 of 10 didn’t die of dengue: Civic body
A day after two health officials of the North corporation were
suspended after the mayor was given a list of 10 suspected dengue cases,
a medical board found that seven of the 10 deaths were not due to
dengue. The board had been appointed to verify the treatment and
diagnostic reports of the patients. The remaining cases are being
evaluated.
“A list of 10 persons who died recently was sent to the North
Delhi Mayor Azad Singh by the residents of Shahbad Daulatpur. The North
corporation’s Health department made efforts to find facts. Of the 10,
it has been found that seven persons did not die of dengue. The
remaining three cases are being examined,” the corporation said.
Mayank Sharma, Additional Commissioner (Health), said one of
those who died had been a tuberculosis patient and the other had
pancreatic disease. Two others admitted at Safdarjung hospital had
tested negative for dengue virus.”
As a preventive measure, the North corporation has now deployed 3
TIFFA fogging machines (vehicle-mounted), nine fogging machines, 43
domestic breeding checkers, five anti-larvae teams and three mini power
sprays. Four three-wheelers will spread awareness about dengue and its
preventive measures, while two mobile dispensaries with eight members of
medical staff will take measures to check the mosquito breeding in the
Shahbad Daulatpur area and provide them treatment.
