Pune: After the former mayor Rajlaxmi Bhosale slammed the Pune municipal administration for its apathy towards the city roads last week, Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal inspected some selected roads in the city on Wednesday to take stock of the situation. He stressed that 90 per cent of the roads are in a “good condition,” but agreed that the storm water drains were not upto the mark.“I inspected some of the roads in the city to take stock of the situation. The civic officials of the concerned department accompanied me. But we did not find anything wrong with the roads except for a few minor potholes at some places. Ninety percent of the roads are in a good condition. But wherever the work is necessary, I have directed the civic staff to carry out the repair,” Rajpal told The Indian Express .
Last week, former mayor Bhosale had come down heavily on the civic administration saying that despite listing potholed roads, the concerned civic department did not initiate action to repair these roads.
Rajpal added, “But it is true that under JNNURM, the work of laying storm water drains has not been up to the mark. This is leading to waterlogging on some roads, creating problems to commuters. But we will sort out the matter soon.”
