PCMC seeks nod to file case against corporator
PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has once again forwarded a proposal to the general body, seeking its permission to file a case in the court for disqualification of NCP corporator Surdas Gaikwad for his unauthorised construction in Phugewadi.
Along with the proposal relating to Gaikwad, the general body will also discuss a similar proposal in which the civic administration has sought disqualification of 25 other corporators for their unauthorised constructions. Incidentally, the proposal relating to the 25 corporators has been deferred several times by the general body meeting. It was first tabled before it in March 2008.
The Municipal Corporation had earlier tabled the proposal for Gaikwad’s disqualification in August last year. The proposal had then been deferred by a year. The corporation had sent a show-cause notice to Gaikwad demanding a clarification regarding the unauthorised construction. However, the corporation has not received any reply from Gaikwad, the proposal put up before the general body said.
Incidentally, the unauthorised construction has already been demolished by the PCMC, following directives issued by the Bombay High Court. The directives had come in the wake of a complaint filed by Padminiraje Mohite. The unauthorised construction was in the name of Gaikwad’s wife, Sandhya.
