Major development proposals get nod at MiC meetStaff Reporter | Bhopal
In total 47 proposals pertaining to various developmental works of the State capital were cleared in the Mayor-in-Council (MiC) meet of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) held under the chairmanship of Mayor Krishna Gaur here on Tuesday.
The major works received nod included paving way for three flyovers proposed at the GAD Square, Moti Masjid Square and Habibganj for the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor.
Purchasing of 225 buses under the ambitious Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) project for running on the BRTS routes. Similarly, the proposal of coming up with required facilities at the Sant Hirdaram Nagar Bus Terminus under the BRTS project was also cleared by the MiC members.
Further, the proposals related to widening of roads around the Airport Trisection and sanctioning of funds for the beautification work at the JK Road too got the nod. Availability of the medicines and equipments required for the sterilisation of stray dogs was assured to veterinary department.
A proposal regarding issuance of yearly toll license for Raja Bhoj Bridge was forwarded for the general council. MiC members further decided to examine the premium offer letter for the operation of 16 traffic signals at important intersections of the city.
Regarding the meat selling license for the year 2010-11, a committee comprising 4 MiC members was constituted by Mayor Krishna Gaur.
A decision of inviting offer letters for construction of modern slaughterhouse was also taken in the meet.
Proposals dealing with carrying out beautification work on the squares, pathways, and central verges coming under Zone 1 to Zone 14 and purchasing of machines and vehicles for the door-to-door waste collection scheme and maintenance of electric poles were also cleared, apart from providing tap connections in the gas affected localities.
