Helpline for street dog trouble
BANGALORE: Soon, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike will have a 24hour helpline for street dogs.“We have invited tenders from NGOs, animal welfare organisations recognised by the Animal Welfare Board of India and private doctors,” said Dr Parvez Ahmad Piran, joint director, Animal Husbandry, BBMP.
He said apart from the helpline (22224541) and the premises – to be set up at Dasappa Maternity Home – the Palike will not provide any financial assistance for the project.”Besides maintaining the 24hour helpline to take calls related to street dog menace, dog bites, sick and injured animals, the helpline should also be able to educate public on street dog management and dispense information on adoption,” Piran said.
He said the organisation should have its own ambulance, doctors, staff and dog catching vehicles.
