PCMC to commission revised CDP
PUNE: The standing committee of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Tuesday passed a resolution to commission a revised city development plan (CDP). The committee during its second meeting passed a resolution to give Rs 14.5 lakh to Crisil, a credit rating agency, in the first stage, to prepare the revised CDP.
Neelkant Poman, computer officer, said, “The Union government has sent guidelines to the civic bodies to prepare the revised CDP. The revised CDP has to be prepared every five years and the PCMC will start the process. The civic body had last made the plan in 2006 to become eligible for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme.”
The cost of projects that were approved under the JNNURM scheme is Rs 2,601.12 crore. The Union government’s share in these projects is Rs 1,300.56 crore, state government’s share is Rs 520.22 crore while the PCMC has to contribute Rs 780.34 crore, he added.
The standing committee asked the civic administration to take adequate measures in the next two years to ensure that there was no flooding of nullahs in the municipal limits.
Speaking to reporters, Prashant Shitole, chairman, standing committee, said, “The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) has developed nullahs in its limits and the water from these nullahs enters the municipal limits causing problems. We have asked municipal commissioner Ashish Sharma to send a letter or notice to the PCNTDA to ensure that PCMC areas do not suffer due to this flooding.”
Shitole said the committee members sought a low-down on conditions of nullahs in the civic limits on the backdrop of heavy post-monsoon rains. Eknath Ugile, city engineer, replied that some nullahs were shown in the development plan (DP) while some nullahs on private land have been filled up. There is no mention of such nullahs in the city survey but they can be located from the slopes marked in the DP.”
Shitole said municipal commissioner Ashish Sharma told the members that Science and Technology Park (STP) had conducted a survey of the nullahs in the municipal limits and the PCMC will develop these nullahs by channelising their flow. A contour survey needs to be conducted to demarcate the nullahs.
Poman added that the PCMC has received grants from the Union and state governments for laying storm water drains under the JNNURM. The PCMC limits has been divided into two basins for this purpose. Works with an estimated cost of around Rs 50 crore on laying storm water drains are in progress in one basin.
Meanwhile, Shitole said, “The resolution to allow the PCMC to give Rs 3 per transaction as service charges to the contractor for running the pay point centre was approved at the meeting.”
