PCMC to chalk out transfer policy
PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is planning to chalk out a transfer policy for employees and officials working in civic departments. Municipal commissioner Ashish Sharma said, “The state government has prepared a policy for transfer of its employees and we are also planning to draft one.”
He added, “The tenure of an employee on one posting differs as per the category of the employee. Also, there are limitations in transferring civic employees from one department to another. For example, the employees in the garden department and doctors in the health department cannot be transferred to other departments.”
Meanwhile, Congress corporator Machhindra Tapkir has written a letter to Sharma demanding that the civic employees who have not been transferred for a long time should be transferred to other departments.
Tapkir had sought information from the administration department about employees who have not been transferred for more than three years. The civic administration has said that 1,481 employees and officials out of 1,917 have not been transferred for the past three to 20 years.
He said that the civic body may suffer financially if the employees continued to remain in the same posting for a long time as they may develop vested interests. “The employees in the octroi, building permission, town planning, accounts, health, medical, zonal offices, divisional offices are not transferred for a long time while some employees and officials have been transferred for more than three times in three years,” Tapkir stated.
