Sathyamangalam compost yard a role model: Zonal commissioner

Worthy of emulation: Buhril, zonal commissioner, Tamil Nadu Warehousing
Corporation, inspecting the Kulithalai Municipality compost yard at
Sathyamangalam on Friday. Collector J.Uma Maheswari is also seen.
KARUR: Expressing satisfaction over implementation of various
government schemes in Karur, Buhril, zonal commissioner and Managing
Director, Tamil Nadu Warehousing Corporation, said here on Friday that
officials should ensure that works are completed in time.
Mr.Buhril inspected the conversion of civic waste into vermicompost
by the Kulithalai Municipality at its Sathyamangalam compost yard and
said the method could be replicated elsewhere to enable local bodies
that had secured landfills to convert waste into money.
The Principal Secretary ranked officer reviewed the progress of
various schemes and urged officials to expedite the progress of
infrastructure works to bring them to early use. .
Earlier, he conducted spot visits to inspect the works under
Kalaignar Housing Scheme at Periya Manjuvali in Aravakurichi taluk,
implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee
Scheme under which desilting work was undertaken at the Kudaganaru left
bank channel, construction of a bridge across a channel between
Pungambadi and Aravakurichi, implementation of the combined water supply
scheme at Chinthalavadi and progress of farming works under the
Rajarajan 1000 system of rice intensification at Nadupatti near
Kulithalai.
At Kulithalai Municipality’s compost yard at Sathyamangalam, the
Kulithalai municipal chairman A.Amuthavel and commissioner Dhanalakshmi
briefed Mr.Buhril on the process of manufacturing vermicompost .
District Collector J.Uma Maheswari, project officer, District Rural
Development Agency, S.Kavitha, Joint Director, Agriculture,
S.Jagadeesan, and other officials accompanied Mr.Buhril during the
visit.
