Councillors test skills on ground

TIRUCHI: A section of councillors of the Tiruchi Corporation proved
their mettle in various games and events organised as part of the Local
Administration Day observation, here on Saturday.
Cutting across party lines
The councillors, for once rose above party differences, to have a
gala time, indulging in friendly banter. They also exhibited their
skills in events such as 100 metres race, cricket, volleyball and
badminton. About 20 councillors and Mayor S.Sujatha participated in the
contests.
Earlier, Ms.Sujatha and T.T.Balsamy, Corporation Commissioner, inaugurated the events.
Winners of the contests would be presented prizes on the Local
Administration Day on November 1. A couple of more events such as tug of
war and musical chair are scheduled to be held during the valedictory
function on the day.
The Corporation has also organised essay writing and oratorical competitions for students of its schools in the city.
