‘Take up piecework through tender’

Bangalore: The BBMP council is trying its best to ensure that piecework amounting up to Rs. 5 lakh can be taken up without the tendering process. According to sources, the Government has directed the BBMP to take up projects amounting to Rs. 1 lakh and above only through the e-tendering process.
The BBMP council, around two months ago, passed a resolution on piecework. As per the regulation, piecework amounting up to Rs. 5 lakh can be taken up without the tendering process. Projects above Rs. 5 lakh and below Rs. 25 lakh were to be taken up through e-tendering and those above Rs. 25 lakh through e-procurement process.
“However, the Government has rejected the proposal,” sources said.
