Opp to raise several issues at BMC general council meetStaff Reporter | Bhopal
A meeting of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) General Council on Wednesday is likely to witness heated arguments over a number of civic problems of the city.
Opposition Congress outlined several issues, which are getting neglected to tardiness in the Krishna Gaur led Mayor-in-Council (MiC).
The leader of Opposition Mohammad Sagheer said that water supply and sanitation are the two principal problems of the city that are being neglected.
He said that the Opposition would raise the issue of delays in the Narmada water supply project in the general council, apart from the paralysed sanitation system.
A majority of opposition Corporators alleged that BMC employees are preoccupied with the BJP workers conclave slated for November 29 in the State capital, resulting in collapse of the city’s cleanliness system.
Apart from the two issues, Congress is also expected to put forth few amendments in the revised budget of the BMC, which would be tabled before the general council, for approvals from the Congress-majority forum.
Instead of the yearly Corporators fund of `10 lakh, a demand to increase it to `15 lakh is also likely to form a part of the agenda before the general council, sources said.
Further, report of the committee constituted to look into the transfer of Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) to BMC from Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) would also be tabled at the meet.
Other proposals include ones that have already been passed by the MiC including, setting up of a wastewater recycling plants, required in some upcoming commercial establishments.
Construction of rooms at schools under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Anganwadi centres in areas dominated by the minority communities. Transfer of land for police station at Coal and Timber Market in old city and a proposal dealing with the lease of plots in Iqbal Nagar Colony would be tabled before the general council.
