MCD razes illegal constructions in South Delhi

NEW DELHI: In keeping with the civic body’s targeted drive against unauthorised construction in the Capital following the recent collapse of the building at Lalita Park, which had two illegal floors, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Building Department of Central Zone undertook major demolition action against nine properties in South Delhi on Thursday.
These properties were located in New Friends Colony, Bhogal, Govindpuri, Lajpat Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Sarita Vihar and Okhla Industrial Area. In most cases, unauthorised floors have been demolished. The demolition action comprised razing of unauthorized portions to make them uninhabitable. According to the Corporation, the demolition operations are being carried out by four teams specially constituted for this drive with the help of the police.
