CMDA seals two buildings

Penalised:The building on Ramasamy Street in T.Nagar that was sealed by
the CMDA on Tuesday.
CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority on Tuesday locked and sealed two buildings for violations.
According to a release, the owner of a building bearing old no. 2/23,
new no.45/17, Ramasamy Street, T. Nagar, had obtained planning
permission on April 17, 2009, from the Chennai Corporation for
“construction of stilt floor plus two floors residential building with
three dwelling units.” The owner had, however, constructed a three-floor
commercial building. The deviated building involves violation of rules
pertaining to FSI, usage conversion and setback.
The owner of another building, bearing old no.25, new no.34, Valluvar
Kottam High Road, Nungambakkam, had not furnished the approved plan.
The ongoing construction was totally unauthorised. The unauthorised
building had violations pertaining to FSI, setback, and parking space.
The two properties were locked and sealed according to the provisions
of Sections 56 and 57 of Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.
