MIM flays mayor for putting off council meet

MIM corporators led by deputy mayor Jaffer Hussain, floor leader Mirza Mustafa Baig and Malakpet MLA Ahmed Balala raised slogans against the mayor and her husband Banda Chandra Reddy alleging that the latter was acting as a shadow mayor. They wanted to know the reason for postponement of the meeting.

The mayor was acting against the interests of the GHMC and the public, Ahmed Balala said. “She is not fit for mayor’s post. The MIM will not tolerate her arrogant behaviour,” Balala said alleging several developmental activities had come to a standstill.

The deputy mayor said the meeting was fixed long back by the mayor herself and all corporators were informed of it. It couldn’t be put off now, he said.

“We have two mayors, Karthika Reddy and her husband Chandra Reddy. The latter’s camp office is located in Tarnaka. Files are sent to him to settle various issues and transfer matters. Suitcases from parties reach there,” Mustafa Baig alleged.
