BBMP talks tough on rent
Speaking after an inspection of KR Market on Wednesday, he said that nearly 80 per cent of the shop keepers in the area had still not paid their dues.
Also, it was noticed that only Rs 1.25 crore was received for the year as against Rs 6.25 crore, which was supposed to be collected. The committee members fumed that many shopkeepers were allowed to operate though they had not paid their dues.
Biometric device to track babus’ attendanceAfter the revelations of the ‘punctuality’ of Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike (BBMP) officials in various offices across the zones, the Standing Committee on Personnel and Administrative Reforms has proposed to install biometric system across all their offices.
The move comes barely a week after chairmen and members of various standing committees inspected the BBMP offices. Many officials came in only by noon and most of the attendance registers were unsigned for years. The irregularities were found in offices in Mayo Hall and Dasarahalli offices where it was reported that a mere 10 per cent of the total staff were present during the inspection.
