CHENNAI: A land earmarked for a park by the Chennai Corporation and a
road in Velachery that were allegedly sold by land grabbers using
forged documents have been recovered.
The market value of the land, measuring 5,400 sqft, is put at Rs.2.25 crore, said a official.
The site for the park, in VGP Selva Nagar, was sold by K. Komala to
Mu.Ramasamy on November 26, 2004. Komala had bought the land from
Ki.Balasubramani.
The civic body has asked the Registration Department to invalidate
the registration of the documents and has advised it to take measures to
prevent such land registrations using forged documents.
The Corporation also informed the officials concerned to deny
planning permission for any construction on the land. Directions have
been issued to construct a wall around the land.
It has recommended criminal proceedings against S.Sankari, A.V.
Shanmugam, Mu.Varadaraj and Ma.Kottaisami for grabbing the road area of
1,800 sq ft in the same locality (survey no.317/1A1, lay out 16/73 in
ward 153 of Adyar zone).
Criminal proceedings have also been recommended against
Ki.Balasubramani, K. Komala and Mu.Ramasamy for grabbing the land which
was supposed to be a park in survey nos.318, 319 and 321 to 324. The
layout no is 231/74.
The registration number of the land for the park is 5519/04 and that of the road is 653/2010.
